Kosa Goucher-Lambert is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He serves as Associate Director of M.Des at the Jacobs Institute and is an Affiliate Faculty member at both the Jacobs Institute of Design Innovation and the Berkeley Institute of Design. He holds a B.A. in Physics from Occidental College (2011) and M.S./Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (2014, 2017).
His research investigates engineering design decision-making through mathematical analyses, computational modeling, human cognitive studies, and neuroimaging. Key focus areas include sustainable design, analogical reasoning, creativity methodologies, preference modeling, and crowdsourcing applications in product development. His 2023 Amazon Research Award project (LCAssist) targets life-cycle-informed sustainable design systems.
