Konstantinos Mountzouris is a Professor at the Laboratory of Nutrition & Diet Physiology, Department of Animal Production at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). His academic journey began with a Degree in Agriculture from AUA (1994), followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Food and Agricultural Biotechnology (University of Reading, 1995) and a PhD in the same field (University of Reading, 1999). He served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Reading (1999-2000) before joining AUA as a Lecturer in 2005, progressing through ranks to his current position since 2020.
Research Focus: His work centers on animal and human nutrition, emphasizing the effects of bioactive compounds (e.g., probiotics, phytogenics) on physiological functions like gut health, antioxidant capacity, and microbiota modulation. Key areas include antibiotic-free growth promotion, feed biotechnology, and functional ingredient development.
Teaching: He has taught courses on animal nutrition and physiology at AUA and Harokopio University.
Recent Trends: His 2023-2025 publications highlight advancements in phytogenic additives for poultry health, mycotoxin mitigation, and nutrigenomic insights into gut-liver interactions. 2024 studies explore yogurt acid whey utilization and fungal applications in aquaculture, reflecting his focus on sustainable feed solutions.
