Konstantina Drosou

Konstantina Drosou is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester, specializing in Evolutionary Genomics and Biomedical Egyptology. She is based at the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology and the Stopford Building, directing the MSc Biomedical Egyptology program and leading human ancient DNA clean room facilities.

Recent publications highlight multi-omic studies of ancient remains, including Nubian brain tissues, Egyptian mummies like Takabuti, and degraded archaeological samples. Collaborative work spans plant genetics (barley evolution) and bioinformatic pipelines for ancient DNA analysis.

Konstantina leads the MSc Biomedical Egyptology program, teaching Human Osteology, Palaeopathology, and molecular techniques. She directs specialized labs for both ancient and modern DNA analysis, emphasizing anti-contamination protocols and biomolecule extraction standards.
