Konstantin Korn

Konstantin Korn is a Research Assistant at the Chair of Didactics of Social Sciences within the Institute of Political Science at Justus Liebig University Giessen, working under Prof. Dr. Sophie Schmitt since November 2022. His academic work focuses on political education with marginalized student populations, particularly at vocational schools, employing participatory research methodologies that center student voices in the creation of educational knowledge.

His research interests include political education at vocational schools, student perspectives on politics and education, participatory action research, educational inequality, democratization processes, and critical political pedagogy with anti-discrimination frameworks. Korn's approach integrates Paulo Freire's pedagogical concepts with contemporary critical theory, emphasizing the recognition of diverse knowledge forms and addressing epistemic injustice in educational settings.

His publication record demonstrates a focus on democratic education models and student perspectives, particularly examining how refugee students understand political problems and how democratic school structures function in practice. His research employs situation analysis methodology combined with grounded theory elements to develop critical didactic theories.

Korn actively engages in educational practice beyond academia, providing teacher training, developing educational materials, and conducting workshops on democracy education, anti-discrimination, and participatory methods. His professional work includes coordination of youth education projects focused on religion and vocational school political education, as well as facilitating Betzavta-method workshops based on the ADAM Institute Jerusalem approach.

He currently pursues his doctoral research titled 'Wie sollte "gute" politische Bildung an (Berufs-)Schulen sein? - Situationsanalyse als partizipative Aktionsforschung mit Berufsschüler*innen' (What should 'good' political education at vocational schools be like? - Situation analysis as participatory action research with vocational school students), which follows a collaborative approach where students serve as research partners.
