Dr. Konrad Bresin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville. His research program investigates mechanisms underlying dysregulated behaviors (nonsuicidal self-injury, substance use, aggression) with focus on emotional/cognitive antecedents and consequences. He employs laboratory experiments, ambulatory assessment, and meta-analytic methods.
Research interests center on: LGBTQ+ health disparities, emotion regulation pathways, minority stress impacts, behavioral reinforcement mechanisms, and transdiagnostic processes in psychopathology. Recent work examines sexual/gender minority stress effects on health outcomes.
His publications show consistent focus on affect-behavior relationships across clinical populations, with emerging emphasis on dyadic analyses and ecological assessment methods. Trends indicate increasing specialization in minority stress mechanisms and behavioral interventions.
Dr. Bresin supervises graduate students in the Psychological Services Center, providing therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy groups with LGBTQ+ specialization. He maintains active clinical research collaborations and field studies examining real-world behavior patterns.
