Flora Koliouli is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology & Special Education, School of Early Childhood Education, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her work focuses on parental experiences in high-stress contexts such as premature birth, neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), and pandemic challenges. She has conducted extensive research on paternal involvement in neonatal care, including studies on skin-to-skin contact, post-traumatic stress, and bonding processes. Her recent studies explore the psychological impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on emerging adults, bereaved individuals, and families with children with chronic conditions like epilepsy or inflammatory bowel disease.
Research interests include developmental psychology, neonatal care dynamics, parental mental health, and inclusive education practices. She has collaborated internationally, particularly in France and Greece, examining social support systems for parents in crisis contexts. Her work integrates qualitative and mixed-method approaches to understand complex family dynamics in healthcare settings.
Publications span topics from neonatal palliative care to the impact of mobile technology on child well-being. She has presented at conferences such as the European Association on Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, emphasizing themes like parental resilience and identity formation under uncertainty.
