معرفی
Ute Kolb is a Professor of Electron Crystallography at Technical University Darmstadt since 2017 and Academic Director/Head of the Centre for High Resolution Electron Microscopy (EMZM) at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz since 2014. Her work focuses on advancing electron diffraction techniques for nano-crystal structure analysis.
- Diploma: Chemistry, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (1989, Supervised by Prof. Dr. Hans Sillescu)
- PhD: Inorganic Chemistry, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (1994, Supervised by Prof. Dr. Martin Dräger)
- Habilitation: Inorganic Chemistry, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (2015, Supervised by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Tremel)
Her research spans electron microscopy, 3D electron crystallography, and computational approaches to study nano-crystal structures. She pioneered the automated electron diffraction tomography (ADT) method in 2007, enabling ab-initio structure solution of nano-crystals and revolutionizing global materials analysis.
Scientific Awards
- Gjønnes Medal (2020) from the International Union of Crystallography for developing 3D electron diffraction techniques.
Positions held include KIVA-Professor (2012-2014), Academic Oberrätin (2009-2014), and Academic Rätin (2004-2009) at Technical University Darmstadt and University Mainz, respectively. She has been a postdoctoral researcher (1994-1998) and PhD student (1989-1994) at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz.
