Dr. Kok Siew Ng is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Chemical Engineering at Brunel University London, UK, and an NERC Fellow. He leads the Biorefinery and Resource Recovery Research Group and the MSc in Advanced Chemical Engineering (Hydrogen and Low Carbon Technologies). His academic journey includes a PhD from The University of Manchester (2011) and prior roles as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Surrey and a researcher at Process Integration Limited.
Dr. Ng's research focuses on systems engineering approaches to sustainable resource management, decarbonized energy systems, and circular economy principles. He has led projects funded by NERC, Innovate UK, and EU programs, including the £0.5M SYNERGORS project (2018–2021) and the Oxford Agile project (2022–2023). His work addresses global challenges aligned with UN SDG 7 and 12, emphasizing waste valorization, biofuel production, and regional nutrient recovery strategies.
His awards include the IChemE Junior Moulton Medal (2011) and a 2022 nomination for the University of Oxford Environmental Sustainability Staff Award. He is an Editorial Board Member of Resources, Conservation & Recycling Advances and actively collaborates internationally through initiatives like the Newton Fund workshops in Southeast Asia and Brazil.
Teaching responsibilities include module leadership for Emerging Low Carbon Technologies and Advanced Process Engineering, and supervision of design projects. He promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and offers PhD supervision in areas like sustainable aviation fuel production and decarbonized polygeneration systems.
