Koenraad Gieskes

Koenraad Gieskes serves as a Lecturer and Assistant Director for the Engineering Design Division at Binghamton University's Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science. He holds both a BSME and MSME from Binghamton University and focuses on engineering education with an emphasis on equity, inclusivity, and active learning pedagogy.

His research explores gender disparities in engineering education, group dynamics, and visual learning techniques. Recent publications investigate the impact of group size and gender ratios on student experiences, as well as ethical reasoning and teamwork assessment methods.

He teaches Sustainability Engineering courses, co-directs the STEP and UBMS programs, and leads the Equity in Engineering and Education Research (E3) Group. He has also contributed to K-12 STEM summer camps for over 15 years.
