Knut Stene-Johansen is a Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Oslo's Department of Area Studies, Literature and European Languages. His research spans Aesthetics, Literary Theory, French literature, and interdisciplinary fields like Medical Humanities and Gastronomy. He has held academic positions since 1988, including roles at NTNU and visiting professorships in Rome and Paris. His work includes translations of key texts by Roland Barthes, Gilles Deleuze, and others.

Publications & Awards: Over 50 scholarly articles and books, notably translations of Barthes and Deleuze. Elected member of The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters (2014). His work bridges literature, philosophy, and cultural studies.
Administration: Directed the PhD programme in Literature at the University of Oslo (2004–2010) and held leadership roles at NTNU's Faculty of Arts.
