Prof. Dr. Knut Smoczyk is a full Professor in the Department of Differential Geometry at Leibniz University Hannover, where he also serves as Vice-Dean of Studies in the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and Executive Director of the Institute of Differential Geometry. He is a member of the Riemann Center for Geometry and Physics. His research focuses on geometric analysis, particularly mean curvature flow, Lagrangian submanifolds, and related geometric evolution equations. Smoczyk has authored over 40 publications, including seminal works on self-expanders, translating solitons, and curvature decay estimates in higher codimensions. His work bridges differential geometry with partial differential equations and symplectic geometry. Notable contributions include foundational studies on Lagrangian mean curvature flow dynamics and geometric regularity theory.
Smoczyk's research interests emphasize the interplay between geometric structures and their evolution under curvature-driven flows. His recent work explores singularity formation, volume non-collapsing phenomena, and topological aspects of translating solitons. He is actively involved in academic leadership, contributing to curriculum development and research coordination at Leibniz University.
