Manja Klemenčič is a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana (2023–2027), serving as Principal Investigator for the project “Student agency and European University Alliances.” Concurrently, she holds the position of Associate Senior Lecturer on Sociology and General Education at Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on sociology and politics of higher education, particularly student agency, representation, and governance structures. She has authored over 140 publications and delivered 80+ keynote lectures globally.
Her teaching excellence is recognized through Harvard awards: six-time Harvard Yearbook “most impactful professor” (2019–2024), the 2021 Phi Beta Kappa Teaching Prize, and the 2020 John R. Marquand Advising Award. She serves as Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Higher Education and co-edits academic series with Springer and Bloomsbury, focusing on student experiences and higher education dynamics.
Klemenčič consults for international organizations (e.g., EU Commission, UNESCO, World Bank) on higher education policies. Her current research explores transformative potential of European University Alliances and student navigation of educational systems. She maintains affiliations with Harvard’s Department of Sociology and collaborates globally through initiatives like the Global Student Forum.
