Prof. Dr. Klaus Sedlbauer is a Professor of Building Physics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Department of Building Physics within the TUM School of Engineering and Design since 2014. His research focuses on hygrothermics, life cycle assessment, and climate-adaptive construction. He previously held the Chair of Building Physics at the University of Stuttgart (2003–2014) and served as Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (2003–present).
Prof. Sedlbauer earned his physics degree from Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, and completed his doctorate in 2001. He is a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (since 2013), chairs the Federal Environment Agency’s Sustainable Construction Commission (since 2014), and co-founded the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
His awards include the 2013 National Winner Land of Ideas and the 2004 WTA Prize. Key publications address climate adaptation in buildings, energy efficiency, and sustainable finance practices.
