Professor Klaus Reinhold is a faculty member in the Faculty of Biology at Bielefeld University, specializing in Evolutionary Biology. He serves as a subproject manager for SFB/Transregio 212 "A Novel Synthesis of Individualization across Behavior, Ecology and Evolution" (NC³), specifically for subprojects D04 and D05. He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) at Bielefeld University and affiliated with the Joint Institute for Individualization in a Changing Environment (JICE).
His research expertise encompasses:
- Evolutionary processes and behavioral ecology
- Insect biology and communication systems
- Acoustic communication mechanisms in animals
- Sexual selection and animal sexuality
- Niche construction theory
Professor Reinhold teaches multiple courses including Bachelor's thesis supervision, Evolution of Behavior, Project Modules in Evolutionary Biology, and Key Concepts in Evolutionary Ecology. His interdisciplinary approach connects evolutionary biology with mathematical modeling, aligning with Bielefeld University's strategic research area of "The Changing World" that examines complex individual and societal dynamics. As a member of ZiF's Scientific Advisory Board, he contributes to Bielefeld's commitment to "Transcending Boundaries" - the university's foundational principle of interdisciplinary research that crosses traditional academic divisions.
