Professor Klaus Dodds is a leading academic in geopolitics and environmental sustainability, serving as Executive Dean of the School of Life Sciences and Environment at Royal Holloway, University of London. He holds a dual role as University lead for environmental sustainability and editor-in-chief of Territory, Politics and Governance. His research focuses on geopolitics, security, and the governance of polar regions, particularly the Arctic and Antarctic. He has authored influential books such as Ice: Nature and Culture and Border Wars, and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and sustainable communities.
Professional affiliations include roles as a Trustee of the Regional Studies Association, Honorary Fellow of the British Antarctic Survey, and advisor to UK and European parliamentary committees on Arctic policy and environmental audits. His expertise spans polar governance, health geopolitics during pandemics, and immersive technology for environmental advocacy.
