Kitty Currier is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), with a focus on GIScience, environmental planning, and marine conservation. Her work integrates participatory mapping and digital tools in regions where computational infrastructure is limited, notably in Indonesia.

Her research spans coastal monitoring, auditory representation in spatial applications, and community-driven GIS. She has extensively used kite aerial photography (KAP) for mapping and environmental documentation in Indonesia and the US.
She has received prestigious awards including the Boren Fellowship (2016), Women Divers Hall of Fame Honorable Mention (2015), and multiple David S. Simonett Memorial Awards. Her grants include NSF IGERT funding (2010) and a UCSB Coastal Fund grant (2014).
