Kirill Zaynullin is a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Ottawa, part of the Faculty of Science. He holds a PhD from St. Petersburg State University (Russia) and an MSc from Utrecht University. His research focuses on algebraic geometry, linear algebraic groups, and homological algebra, with contributions to motivic homotopy theory, cohomology theories, and representation theory.
He has supervised multiple students and postdoctoral researchers, including Marc-Antoine Leclerc (co-supervised with Erhard Neher), Alexander Neshitov, and Cameron Ruether. His postdoctoral supervision includes Mohammad Bardestani, Roberto Pirisi, and Uladzimir Yahorau. Zaynullin is a key member of the Algebra Research Group at the University of Ottawa.
His work spans advanced topics such as motivic decompositions of algebraic varieties, formal affine Demazure algebras, and geometric properties of Kazhdan-Lusztig bases. Recent research highlights include studies on twisted Milnor hypersurfaces and Peterson subalgebras. Zaynullin's publications emphasize interdisciplinary connections between algebraic geometry, Lie theory, and homotopy theory.
