Kinohi Nishikawa is an Associate Professor at Princeton University, affiliated with the English and African American Studies departments. His scholarly work focuses on Black print culture, publishing history, and the intersection of literary studies with bibliographic analysis.
His notable publications include the monograph Street Players: Black Pulp Fiction and the Making of a Literary Underground (2018), which explores the role of Black pulp fiction in shaping literary countercultures. Currently, he is developing a new project titled Black Paratext: Reading African American Literature by Design, examining the material and design aspects of literary production.
At Princeton, Nishikawa teaches courses such as G-85. Why Black Bibliography Matters, emphasizing the critical role of textual materiality in understanding African American literature. His research bridges literary analysis with historical and sociological dimensions of publishing and readership.
