Kinga Nalepka is a Professor at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, affiliated with the Department of Machine Design and Operation within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics. She serves as Secretary for the Section of Mechanics of Materials of the Committee on Mechanics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and contributes to the organization of major scientific conferences like PLASTMET 2023, which bridges Mechanics of Materials and Materials Science and Metallurgy.
- Educational Background: PhD, DSc, Eng. (Engineering degree)
- Current Position: University Professor at AGH UST

Her research focuses on Mechanics of Materials, with particular emphasis on microstructural analysis of plastic flow instability, phase transformations under extreme conditions (e.g., cryogenic temperatures), and hierarchical twin microstructures in metallic and biomaterial systems. She has also contributed to understanding interfacial bonding in metal-ceramic composites and symmetry-based modeling of interatomic potentials.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in:
- Plastic flow instability in austenitic stainless steels at room and cryogenic temperatures
- Martensitic phase transformations induced by fracture
- Microstructural evolution in nanobainitic and high-carbon steels
- Crystallographic analysis of biological materials (oyster shells, mollusk shells)
- Computational modeling of metal-ceramic interfaces and interatomic potentials
