Kimberly M. Lumpkins, MD, MBA, is the Dr. J. Laurance Hill Endowed Professor in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She serves as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery & Urology and Surgeon-in-Chief of the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital, and leads value-based care initiatives for the University of Maryland Faculty Physicians Inc.

Research & Clinical Interests: Dr. Lumpkins specializes in comprehensive pediatric general and urological surgery, focusing on minimally invasive techniques, neonatal surgical diseases, trauma, and complex urological reconstruction. Her clinical footprint spans Baltimore, Bel Air, Lutherville, and Columbia, Maryland.

Her peer-reviewed work encompasses neonatal oncology, congenital anomalies, trauma biomarkers, health-services research in pediatric emergency surgery, and surgical innovation. A consistent theme across her publications is improving surgical outcomes and system-level efficiency for children.

She also serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland and Delaware.

She operates at the University of Maryland Medical Center and the University of Maryland Ambulatory Surgery Center in Columbia, leading multidisciplinary teams dedicated to advancing pediatric surgical care.
