Kimberly A. Noels is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alberta, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts. Her work bridges cultural and social psychology, applied sociolinguistics, and communication science, focusing on intercultural relations and language dynamics.

Her research explores bilingualism and second language learning, emphasizing how social contexts influence motivation, self-identity, and acculturation. She also investigates communication processes in cross-cultural adaptation, particularly among immigrants and multicultural populations.
The articles highlight her expertise in Self-Determination Theory, language mindsets, and ethnic identity dynamics across diverse contexts, including the impact of systemic challenges like the dual pandemics of racism and COVID-19 on Chinese Canadians.
She supervises studies such as the Chinese Immigration Study, Multicultural Identity Study, and Chinese Longitudinal Study, which inform educational and immigration policies. Her courses include PSYCH 344: Intercultural Communication, PSYCH 441: Advanced Cultural Psychology, and PSYCH 541: Advanced Social and Cultural Psychology I.
