Kimberley Wang

Dr. Kimberley Wang is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the School of Human Sciences, The University of Western Australia (UWA). Her work bridges developmental biology and respiratory medicine, focusing on how prenatal factors like low birth weight influence lifelong cardiopulmonary health. With a PhD from the University of South Australia and a Master in Public Policy (Public Administration & Governance) with Distinction from UWA, she combines scientific rigor with policy expertise.

Dr. Wang’s research centers on three key themes: (1) low birth weight and asthma associations, (2) airway fat characterization in obesity-asthma comorbidity, and (3) pharmacological interventions to reduce airway smooth muscle (ASM) thickness. Her studies employ animal models, imaging technologies (e.g., polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography), and molecular analyses to uncover mechanistic links between fetal development and adult disease.
