Kimberlee A. Johnson, D.Min., serves as Dean of Palmer Theological Seminary and Palmer College, Director of the Center for Community Engagement, and Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary & Urban Studies within Eastern University's Department of Social Transformation (College of Health and Sciences). With a career spanning since the 1990s at Eastern, she pioneered roles as the university's first Coordinator of Service Learning and Campus Ministries, Program Director for Urban Studies degrees, and Department Chair.
Research Focus: Her work centers on urban transformation and faith-based criminal justice reform, driven by Luke 4:18-19's framework for human flourishing. She founded Eastern's Prison Education Program to address mass incarceration through redemptive higher education models, integrating community engagement with theological discipleship.
Leadership Impact: As national policy leader for CCDA's Locked in Solidarity initiative and board member for Bridge of Hope National and Christians for Social Action, she bridges academic scholarship with frontline advocacy. Her coordination of local training events through the Center for Community Engagement extends to international ministry contexts including Peru, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and Kenya.
