Kim Vander Dussen

Dr. Kim Vander Dussen is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School, specializing in childhood trauma, attachment disorders, and developmental disabilities. She is the Coordinator of the Child and Adolescent Concentration and holds licenses as a psychologist and registered play therapist supervisor. Her certifications include EMDR, Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, and Circle of Security Parenting.

• Education: Psy.D. (1999) and M.A. (1997) in Clinical Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology; B.A. (1995) in Psychology and B.S. (1995) in Human Services from California State University Fullerton.

Dr. Vander Dussen’s research and practice focus on:

• Play Therapy interventions for trauma and attachment
• Sensory processing and self-regulation strategies
• Neurobiology of trauma and development
• Working with children on the autism spectrum
• Clinical supervision and training
• Infant and toddler mental health

Her publications and presentations highlight the integration of sensory processing, trauma-informed care, and play therapy frameworks. She has held leadership roles as Past President of the California Association for Play Therapy and Board Member of the Association for Play Therapy.
