Kim Bissell serves as Dean of LSU's Manship School of Mass Communication since July 2023. Previously, she held roles as Southern Progress Endowed Professor in Magazine Journalism, Associate Dean for Research, and Executive Director of the Institute for Communication and Information Research at the University of Alabama. Her research focuses on media's social effects on health outcomes and sports communication, spanning over two decades. She has secured $2.25M in external funding and developed the 'Track My Plate' iPad app to promote healthy behaviors in children.

Her work bridges media studies with public health, emphasizing technology-driven interventions. Awards include the SEC Professor of the Year and Krieghbaum Under-40 recognition for scholarly excellence.
