Killian Ngong is a Senior Lecturer at Leeds Beckett University in the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing. He is a chartered civil engineer with over 20 years of industry experience in highway and transport infrastructure. His expertise lies in sustainable materials and intelligent transport systems.
Research Interests:
- Development of sustainable paving materials from waste streams including plastic bottles, plastic bags, waste polymers, and recycled aggregates.
- Use of incineration ash aggregates from energy recovery processes to reduce reliance on quarried materials and petroleum-based bitumen.
- Intelligent transport solutions for motorway congestion management using booking systems, ramp metering, and variable speed limits.
He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules such as Highway Engineering, Materials Science, Major Project, and Transportation Studies, and coordinates undergraduate dissertations.
His current research shows a strong trend toward environmental sustainability in civil engineering and smart mobility solutions, integrating materials science with transport policy and infrastructure design.
