Dr. Kieran O'Keefe is an Assistant Professor of History at Lyon College, specializing in early American history with a focus on the Revolutionary War era. He is affiliated with the Department of History and teaches a broad range of American history courses. His current research includes a book manuscript titled Suffering for the Crown: The Hudson Valley Loyalists, Violence, and Forced Migration in Revolutionary North America.
Education includes a Ph.D. from The George Washington University (2021), an M.A. from the University of Vermont (2016), and a B.A. from Mount Saint Mary College (2014). His scholarly publications have appeared in Early American Studies, New York History, Journal of Religious History, and others, reflecting his expertise in colonial conflicts, loyalist experiences, and historical narratives.
Dr. O'Keefe's work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understanding the social and political dynamics of the Revolutionary period. His teaching philosophy integrates primary-source analysis and critical engagement with historical methodologies.
