Kiara Washington

Kiara Washington is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of English and Creative Writing at SUNY Geneseo. She teaches BLKS 200: Introduction to Black Studies, an interdisciplinary course examining African American and Diaspora experiences through history, literature, art, political science, and sociology. Her work focuses on the legacies of slavery and freedom in U.S. history, and the intersectional dimensions of Black Studies.

Her research interests include the transnational connections between African Americans and Africa, material culture, and the sociopolitical dimensions of cultural expression. While no specific publications or grants are listed, her teaching reflects a commitment to critical perspectives on race, identity, and historical memory.
