Khadene Harris is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Rice University, with an appointment to the Center for African and African American Studies. Her research focuses on historical archaeology, exploring intersections of race, slavery, and capitalism in the Caribbean, particularly in Dominica. She examines social and economic networks of laboring classes using ceramics, architectural remains, and oral histories.

Research Interests:
Her work integrates material culture analysis—such as imported and locally made ceramics—with spatial and oral histories to reconstruct community narratives under colonialism. Key themes include post-emancipation transitions, commodity systems, and the anthropology of consumption.
