Kewchang Lee

Kewchang (Kew) Lee serves as Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine and is affiliated with the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences. He holds multiple leadership positions including Program Director of the Consultation-Liaison Fellowship Program, Psychiatry Clerkship Director, and Endowed Chair in Psychiatry Medical Student Education at UCSF. Additionally, he serves as Director of the Psychiatry Consultation Unit and Chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at the San Francisco VA Health Care System.

Dr. Lee's research interests span Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Integrated and Collaborative Care, Medical Education, Cultural Psychiatry of East Asians and Asian-Americans, Mental Health Issues in Gay Male East Asian and Asian-American Populations, DEI and Anti-Racism initiatives, Cognitive Load theory in clinical settings, and Medicolegal Issues. His scholarly work demonstrates a strong commitment to improving psychiatric education and addressing cultural competency in mental healthcare delivery.

His publication record shows consistent scholarly output since 2002, with recent emphasis on fellowship training models, diversity initiatives in professional organizations, and measurement of cognitive load in clinical consultation settings. These publications appear in leading journals including the Journal of Academic Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, Academic Medicine, and Psychosomatics.

He also serves on the Board of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry as Chair of the Fellowship Education Subcommittee and member of the Mentorship Subcommittee, and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association Council on C-L Psychiatry.
