Kevin Trainor

Kevin Trainor is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Illinois School of Information Sciences (iSchool). He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and serves as a key educator in information systems and technology fields.

Research Focus: His work explores practical on-the-job applications of programming, database design, data analysis, systems analysis, and web application development for students pursuing careers in libraries, museums, archives, galleries, and research data repositories.

Teaching: In Fall 2025, he teaches foundational courses including Foundations of Information Processing (IS430OAG), Systems Analysis and Design (IS446ACG/IS446ACU), and Database Design & Prototyping (IS455AUG/IS455AUU).

Awards & Recognitions:

• Karen Wold Level the Learning Field Award (2024)
• iSchool Excellent Instructor Award (2021–2024, repeated multiple times)
