Kevin Pelphrey is an Adjunct Professor in the Child Study Center at Yale School of Medicine and the Carbonell Family Professor/Director of the Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Institute at George Washington University. His research focuses on using brain science for autism detection/treatment, leading the NIH Autism Center of Excellence and training programs for neurodevelopmental disorder researchers. He holds a PhD from University of North Carolina (2001).
His work bridges translational neuroscience, examining genetic, neuroimaging, and behavioral markers of ASD. Recent studies explore microbiome-brain interactions, diagnostic timing disparities, and neural oscillations in language processing. Pelphrey collaborates widely, with frequent co-authors including James McPartland and Brent Vander Wyk.
He leads NIH-funded initiatives promoting interdisciplinary research-to-practice translation. Clinical services and policy advocacy are integral to his translational mission.
