Kevin McCusker

Kevin McCusker is the Inaugural Program Director of the Cardiovascular Perfusion Program and Associate Director of Research in Cardiovascular Perfusion Engineering at Lawrence Technological University (LTU). He has been an Assistant Professor of Surgery at New York Medical College since 2003 and has previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University and the University of New Hampshire.

McCusker’s research focuses on cardiovascular perfusion, extracorporeal circulation, and cardiopulmonary physiology. He has pioneered advancements in perfusion technology, including U.S. Device and Method Patents for Condensed Perfusion Circuitry used in cardiopulmonary bypass and cardioplegia. His work intersects physiology, biostatistics, and medical device innovation.

He has authored over 60 publications and co-edited two books: Systems Theory: A Modified Extracorporeal Circuit to Attenuate Systemic Inflammatory Response and Acid-Base Balance. McCusker has also established prominent programs in cardiovascular perfusion, including at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center and Northeastern University.

McCusker has served on the editorial boards of multiple medical journals and has over 30 years of experience as a practicing Perfusionist. His expertise in health and human services and pathophysiology has been applied across academic and clinical settings.
