Kevin Lyles is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). His research focuses on American Government, Constitutional Law, Judicial Process, African-American Legal History, and Gender and Law. He holds a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis (1991).
His work includes examining the jurisprudence of Thurgood Marshall, analyzing civil liberties through constitutional case studies, and exploring the intersection of race and constitutional silence. Current research projects include African-American Legal History: Cases and Commentary (forthcoming 2013) and Constitutional Law: The Federal System, Cases and Commentaries (forthcoming 2014).
Publications span foundational texts like Civil Liberties and the Constitution (2011) and The Gatekeepers (1997), reflecting his expertise in judicial processes and federal systems. His scholarship bridges legal history with contemporary political institutions.
