Kevin Lande is an Assistant Professor and York Research Chair in Philosophy of Representation at York University, where he is affiliated with the Centre for Vision Research, Vision: Science to Applications (VISTA) program, Connected Minds, and Centre for Integrative and Applied Neuroscience. His research bridges philosophy of mind and cognitive science, focusing on perception, mental representation and intentionality.
Education includes: PhD from University of California, Los Angeles; MA from Brandeis University; BA from Montana State University.
Research examines how compositional mental structures underlie perception's capacity to represent complex features of the world, drawing connections between linguistic syntax/semantics and vision science. Recent work develops frameworks for perceptual compositionality and pictorial syntax.
Awards include the York Research Chair in Philosophy of Representation.
