Kevin Klotz serves as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Houston Christian University within the College of Arts and Humanities. He conducts Schola Cantorum and University Singers while teaching courses in Conducting, Developmental Vocal Techniques, Music Appreciation, and Music Literature.
His educational background includes:
- DMA in Choral Conducting from the University of Houston
- MM in Applied Music from the University of Houston
- BM in Music Performance from Houston Christian University
Dr. Klotz's research centers on sacred music, early music, symphonic choral masterworks, performance practice, and choral rehearsal techniques with specialized focus on Randall Thompson's works. His expertise bridges historical performance practices with contemporary choral pedagogy.
He has mentored students through HCU courses, Wharton County Junior College instruction, and high school choir camps including the HCU Texas All-State Choir Camp for 200 singers. His community engagement extends to guest conducting for Fort Bend ISD and Alief School District.
Dr. Klotz leads multiple ensembles: Artistic Director of the 90-voice Houston Choral Society (4th season), founder of St. Laurence Chamber Singers, and former director of Houston Cecilia Chamber Choir and Sugar Land Choral Society. Notable performances include Carnegie Hall (2018), Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart dedication Mass (2008), and National Pastoral Musicians Convention with Cardinal DiNardo (2016).
He maintains active membership in American Choral Directors Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and National Pastoral Musicians.
