Dr. Kevin Kiers is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Burman University, Alberta. He previously chaired the Outdoor Leadership Department for four years and served as an elementary school teacher for twelve years. His research focuses on school-based outdoor learning, particularly in K-9 curricula, and he has developed a framework for successful outdoor education practices. He is currently co-authoring an outdoor learning textbook emphasizing seven key success factors and developing an outdoor learning training program for the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.

Dr. Kiers has pioneered a 20-year grade 5-6 outdoor school program and is advancing initiatives to integrate outdoor learning into formal and non-formal education systems through training modules and publications.
