Kevin Gardner is a Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Interior Design at the College for Creative Studies (CCS), Detroit, where he has served full-time since 2023 after being an Adjunct Professor since 2012. He holds a BFA from CCS (2011) and is actively engaged in design research and practice.
His research explores the symbiosis between the built environment and human well-being, focusing on how spaces influence physiological comfort, psychological engagement, and social connection—especially within educational contexts. He is also interested in how design can subtly deter undesirable behaviors and enhance fulfillment through architectural aesthetics.
Gardner has professional experience designing schools globally with Fielding International since 2018, transitioning from interiors and architecture to learning design. Prior roles include residential and small commercial design with Anahi Hollis Design (2016–2018), interior design at SHW Group (2012–2013), and independent creative consultancy since 2013. He also founded a graphic facilitation company in 2015.
