Kevin Furlong is a Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design at the School for the Creative Industries within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Chester. He specializes in visual communication, photography, moving image, and sound design including motion design, film making, and animation.
His educational foundation was established at Liverpool Art School where he began his teaching career before joining the University of Chester in 2005. He has held significant leadership roles including acting programme leader for graphic design, deputy head of design, acting head of design, and deputy head of art & design.

His work critically examines audio's undervalued role in digital media compared to visual elements, investigating decision-making processes in sound design for moving image environments to develop frameworks that enhance listener engagement and attention retention.
Kevin has extensive practical experience originating from his early work as an audio artist in the 1980s, where he experimented with tape loops, effects pedals, synthesizers, and drum machines to create innovative sound compositions that informed his visual work.
