Kevin E. Lansey is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Mechanics at the University of Arizona, with a joint appointment in Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences. A former Department Head, his expertise spans water resources engineering, urban water systems, and systems analysis. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (1987). His research emphasizes water distribution system optimization, sociohydrology, and hydro-diplomacy, particularly in the Sonora and San Pedro watersheds.
Key research themes include conjunctive water supply management, recycled water integration, and resilient infrastructure design. His work also explores policy and education in science diplomacy. Recent publications focus on experiential learning in policy training, modular infrastructure analysis, and green infrastructure for urban resilience. His research methodologies include computational modeling, algorithm development, and multi-objective optimization.
Lansey's contributions bridge technical and social dimensions of water systems, addressing challenges in water security, decision-making under uncertainty, and sustainable urban development. He maintains an active profile through collaborations across disciplines and institutions, as reflected in his CAEM faculty directory and UA Vitae profile.
