Kevin D. Basemann is Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Louisville. He holds a Ph.D. from Iowa State University, where he developed machine learning and robotics for organometallic catalyst discovery, and completed National Academies postdoctoral research at UNC Chapel Hill on Z-type ligand transformations.
His research focuses on organometallic reaction mechanisms, ligand design, and catalytic methodology development. Publications in Organometallics, ACS Catalysis, and Inorganic Chemistry investigate reductive elimination pathways, iodophosphonium complex characterization, and ene-yne metathesis optimization, demonstrating fundamental insights into bond polarization and catalytic performance enhancement.
Awards include the National Academies Postdoctoral Research Fellowship supporting his work on ligand behavior modulation.
