Kevin Croft is a Senior Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Biomedical Sciences, The University of Western Australia, within the Pharmacology and Toxicology department. He holds a BAppChem from Curtin University and a PhD from the University of Western Australia. His research focuses on cardiovascular health, lipid metabolism, and the role of dietary bioactives (e.g., nitrate, flavonoids) in disease prevention. He has over 335 publications and 70 grants, with a particular emphasis on dietary interventions for hypertension, atherosclerosis, and oxidative stress.
Key research areas include nitrate metabolism from vegetables, flavonoid-rich foods, and their impacts on blood pressure, vascular function, and chronic diseases. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and sustainable diets. He leads projects funded by institutions like Edith Cowan University and the Royal Perth Hospital Medical Research Foundation.
Recent studies explore cruciferous vegetables' blood pressure-lowering effects, beetroot juice's impact on hypertension, and long-term dietary nitrate's role in cardiovascular health. His awards include Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He collaborates globally, with research networks spanning Australia, Europe, and Asia.
Grants highlight his leadership in projects such as nitrate-nitosamine analysis and flavonoid-rich apple studies. Over 18,380 citations and an h-index of 79 reflect his significant academic impact.
