Kevin Coulter is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Ontario Tech University, part of the Faculty of Science. He holds dual roles as a Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry and Senior Lab Instructor for Inorganic and Organic Chemistry laboratories. His research focuses on Solar Fuels, photocatalysis for water splitting, and electrocatalysis for CO2 reduction. He supervises Honours thesis projects and provides experiential learning opportunities in these areas.
Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Victoria (UVIC, 1997), B.Sc. in Chemistry from UVIC (1989).
Teaching: Courses include Advanced Inorganic Chemistry (CHEM 4610U), Inorganic Chemistry I/II (CHEM 3510U/3520U), Molecular Structure Determination (CHEM 2220U), and Chemistry I (CHEM 1010U). He emphasizes hands-on laboratory instruction and undergraduate research mentorship.
Experience: Joined Ontario Tech in 2005; prior roles include postdoctoral appointments at Memorial University of Newfoundland (2001–2005) and UVIC (1997–1999), and research work at Cominco Research (1999–2001). He has over 30 years of inorganic chemistry and catalysis research experience.
