Kevin Brown is an Associate Professor of Digital Media and Performance Studies at the University of Missouri's College of Arts and Science, Department of Theatre and Performance Studies. He joined MU in 2009 and has directed numerous theatrical productions, including works by Tom Stoppard, William Shakespeare, and Sam Shepard, as well as world premieres like The Orphan Sea. His research explores the intersection of digital media with performance, alongside themes of gender, ethnicity, and class.

- B.A. in Anthropology, University of California at San Diego
Dr. Brown teaches courses in Theory and Criticism, Theatre History, Script Analysis, Classical and Contemporary Theatre, and Performance Ethnography. His publications appear in journals such as Performance Research, Theatre Journal, and International Journal of Performance Arts and Digital Media. He is the author of Karaoke Idols: Popular Music and the Performance of Identity (Intellect/University of Chicago Press).
His work combines academic research with practical theatre experience, including collaborations with professional theatres like the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and the Guild Theatre. He actively engages in performance ethnography and digital media innovations in the performing arts.
