Kevin Brown is a Research Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt University’s School of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, and Chemical Engineering, all from Vanderbilt University.
His research focuses on life-cycle risk evaluation, model integration, and waste management issues related to advanced nuclear fuel cycles and nuclear applications. He has served as a DOE Complex-wide authority on high-level waste vitrification at the Savannah River Laboratory (1986–2002) and conducted transboundary radiation dose studies at IIASA in Austria. He has participated in numerous DOE advisory roles including the External Technical Review Team (2009), Tank Waste Subcommittee (2010–2011), and Construction Project Reviews for Hanford and Savannah River facilities.
Dr. Brown’s work emphasizes stakeholder-informed risk evaluation through collaborations like the Consortium for Risk Evaluation with Stakeholder Evaluation (CRESP). His expertise spans nuclear waste processing, uncertainty management, and cementitious barrier systems for nuclear applications.
