Dr Kevin Bradley is a Casual Academic at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney's School of Architecture, Design and Planning since August 2022. His work specializes in carceral architecture, focusing on humane prison design, modular housing solutions, and environments supporting desistance from crime through evidence-based spatial interventions.
Bradley's research centers on carceral and post-carceral design supporting desistance, lived-experience design methods, and modular residential construction. He advocates for participatory design processes involving people with lived experience of the justice system to create rehabilitative environments that reduce recidivism through spatial agency and dignity-centered planning.
His publication history since 2012 reveals consistent focus on justice infrastructure innovation, with trends showing increasing integration of ergonomic principles, audio-visual technology, and community-based corrections models. Key fields include prison planning, juvenile detention facility design, and modular construction for remote housing, all emphasizing human-centered solutions in high-security contexts.
Scientific Awards: None documented in available sources.
Bradley has secured substantial research funding from NSW Department of Justice, Corrective Services Industries, and the Aboriginal Housing Office for projects including modular housing prototypes, AVL suite design standards, and community corrections spaces. As an educator, he served as sessional design tutor for Interior Architecture (2017-2023) and construction tutor for Built Environment (2020-2021) at UTS, though no formal graduate students are listed in his supervisory record.
