Professor Kevin Bernot is a Full Professor at INSA-Rennes and a Junior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). He holds a Research Direction Habilitation (2015) and has been affiliated with INSA-Rennes since 2009. His research focuses on lanthanide-based coordination chemistry, molecular magnetism, and luminescence materials. He leads a group developing multifunctional materials such as single-molecule magnets (SMMs) and single-chain magnets (SCMs), with applications in data storage and optoelectronics. Key collaborations include the University of Florence and the Ningbo Institute of Science (China).
Research Themes: Lanthanides, Coordination Chemistry, Molecular Magnetism, Luminescence, Single-Molecule/Chain Magnets, Metal-Organic Frameworks.
Awards: Distinguished Junior Member (SCF, 2020–2024), Junior Award (Coordination Chemistry Division, SCF, 2020), PEDR Excellence Award (2015–2022).
Teaching: General Chemistry at INSA Rennes and EU ‘Applied Thermochemistry’ in 2nd year.
Recent Highlights: 2023 CNRS Highlight on metallogels for SMM nanostructuration; 2020 Angewandte Chemie work on chiral SCM nanotubes.
