Dr. Kevan M. Yenerall is a Professor of Political Science at Pennsylvania Western University, specializing in American politics, popular culture, and civic engagement. He serves as faculty liaison for The Washington Center and founded the Joseph and Mary Ellen Yenerall Politics & Public Service Scholarship to support experiential education. Dr. Yenerall holds a B.A. in English & Political Science from Duquesne University and M.A./Ph.D. in Political Science from Miami University.
His research interests include electoral behavior, presidential politics, and the intersection of film/television with political discourse. He has authored/co-authored works such as Pennsylvania: A New Bellwether? (2022) and Seeing the Bigger Picture (2012), and contributed to over 50 academic papers/presentations. Dr. Yenerall has extensive public service experience, including roles in legislative internships, APSCUF advocacy, and board memberships with The Washington Center. He is a frequent political commentator featured in media outlets like the Economist, PBS NewsHour, and SiriusXM.
As an educator, Dr. Yenerall emphasizes experiential learning, organizing student participation in national conventions, congressional debates, and Washington seminars. His leadership includes founding chair of the Popular Culture & Politics section at the Northeastern Political Science Association (NPSA) and faculty leadership in AP American Government programs.
