Kev Palmer

Kev Palmer is a Lecturer in Conservation Biology/Zoology at the School of Natural Sciences, University of Chester. He holds an MSc in Conservation & Biodiversity from the University of Exeter and a BSc (Hons) in Animal Science from Bournemouth University.

His teaching focuses on terrestrial ecology, field ecology, global biodiversity, and behavioural ecology, with specialization in reptiles and amphibians (herpetofauna). He emphasizes bridging the conservation skills gap through species identification and ecological census techniques. Research interests include habitat selection, biomonitoring, and the impacts of anthropogenic disturbance on the thermal ecology and reproductive fitness of European adders. He collaborates on training conservation detection dogs for great crested newt surveys under a Natural England license.
