Ketevan Melkadze

Ketevan Melkadze is a Doctoral Researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO) in the Department of Agricultural Markets, Marketing and World Agricultural Trade. She joined IAMO in February 2024 and is involved in the BlackSeaGrain project, focusing on Russia's grain export business in the Black Sea region.

• European Master’s degree in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Policy Analysis (AFEPA) from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and the University of Bonn
• Master’s degree in Economics from the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET), Georgia

Her research interests span agricultural trade, grain markets, the Black Sea region, and food security. She investigates structural changes in wheat exports and the impact of product differentiation on agricultural exports, particularly from Georgia. Her work contributes to understanding global food supply chains and trade dynamics in transition economies.

Her recent publications in 2024 focus on Russia's wheat exports and Georgian agricultural exports, reflecting trends in international agricultural trade and food security in the context of geopolitical disruptions. These works employ economic analysis to assess market structures and policy implications.
